Land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Scenario
When the massive Lawson cattle station is left without an heir, Australia’s rival factions see a chance to take control. The series was filmed in the Northern Territory and South Australia in locations so remote they are barely inhabited, let alone shown on screen.
We really enjoyed this series
Locations include Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with special permission from traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real, working cattle station so big it has its own airport and school. Excellent actors.
Anna Torv is wonderful as a complex female antagonist
We loved Robert Taylor in Longmeier, playing a grumpy old man in a western style. We loved her in Fringe, but we didn’t know she was Australian because she lost her accent.
The same goes for Michael Dorman, who starred in For All Mankind
It’s really amazing how British and Australian-New Zealand actors can drop their accents and sound so American. It’s nice when shows are set in nature rather than cities with concrete and constant violence.
I really hope there’s a second season
If you liked Yellowstone, you’ll like this one too.
