The scar on Skye’s knee is shaped like a smile
Scenario
In order to embark on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins to experience increasingly terrifying and unexplained events. Overwhelmed by the mounting horror and pressure of fame, Skye is forced to confront her past.
Skye Riley: [Smiling Entity] You’re not in control, I am!
In one scene, Skye places a VOSS water bottle on a rock/marble kitchen counter and there is a sound that matches the sound of a plastic object being placed down. VOSS water bottles are made of glass, which is featured prominently in the film, so the sound does not match the action you see.
An improvement on the (good) original
Featured in The 7PM Project: Episode 17 October 2024 (2024). Naomi Scott’s performance is exceptional, she is so convincing and completely believes in the role that she elevates the film as a whole.
The rest of the cast is good, eg
Rosemary DeWitt, but “Smile 2” is very much Scott’s film. The runtime is perhaps a little longer than it should be, although to be honest that’s only a minor gripe in the grand scheme of things.
Based on the ending, the upcoming sequel could be a lot of fun – here’s hoping!
Much of what is on screen helps to offset any potential (minor) pacing issues, the violence and gore is quite overt, but it’s well done and exactly what we want to see from this type of production, let’s be real. I will say that there are too many cheap scares, which I’m not a huge fan of, but as before it’s not a concept that detracts from the overall quality of the end result.
