Scenario

Amber, an agent of happiness, treks the Himalayas of Bhutan to research human happiness. He searches for fulfillment during his long trek through the mountains. While watching Agent of Happiness, I wasn’t sure if it was a satire, because calculating the happiness index seems so simple. I mean, the happiness barometer, if there is one, is so complicated because there are so many things to take into account. It was fun to watch the interviews the two main characters give to people from different social classes and the traps they set for some people who are happy at the expense of other family members. Maybe the moral is that if most things in your life are good, you will probably be happy. No matter how many cows you have or the latest iPhone you have. The main character is charming and I wish I could be as happy as he is in the film, regardless of the source of his sadness. (Watched at MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024)
