women are what science fiction is all about
Men and women live in a giant underground silo with various regulations that they believe are meant to protect them from the toxic and crumbling world above ground. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or shutting down the world, they’re creating a better world. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book “Wool” – the book has 82 chapters..
This rotation does not push or suck air
The fans on the ground rotate in different episodes in the wrong direction in terms of the alignment of the rotor blades. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 Must-Watch TV Shows of 2023 (2023). It’s an interesting take on the underground bunker story, of a people who have survived underground for so long that a civilization has arisen there with traditions, myths, beliefs, rituals and ceremonies based on forgotten events, and a social structure of the status quo.
And when that status quo that maintains order is challenged, coercion and punishment ensue
justified. A power structure forms, creating a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from the top of the silo to the bottom. That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough new stuff here that it feels well executed for a TV series.
There are elaborate sets and good CGI to create a believable atmosphere
Good acting from Oyelowo, with familiar faces like Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can see from the show’s poster, these are guest stars who will be making way for the regular cast starring Rebecca Ferguson.) The show looks pretty decent, with good production values. While a wary mind will spot some obvious conspiracies early on, secrets are revealed that will keep me on my toes.
