– following this year’s string of romantic holiday-themed movies that you can watch from the comfort of your own home
Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family compete to win the team’s Fan of the Year competition, in a process judged by Director of Fan Engagement Derrick. The film was filmed in the historic Independence Square in Independence, Missouri, which actually looks like it did that year. The locations that served as the Higman family’s store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are also real-life family businesses.
The family even runs a Chiefs store in their hometown
The Square also puts up Christmas lights, just like in the movie. Alana Higman (Hunter King) is a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. Her parents met as children, their families sitting next to each other at games.
There’s a magic hat
They’re competing for the Fan of the Year competition. Director of Fan Engagement Derrick (Tyler Hynes) is judging. The most compelling relationship in this movie is the one between Hallmark and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The corporate world calls it synergy
I was expecting more of the real Kansas City Chiefs. I was expecting a few high-profile players to come across our pairing. That’s what the players should want.
I guess everyone needs a paycheck
As for the pairing, I’ve always liked Hunter King’s comedic timing, and Tyler Hynes seems perfectly fine, although they could try Niall Cunningham. There are surprisingly many familiar faces in the other roles. That’s fine Hallmark, and maybe more synergy will come.
