Britain allowed filming inside the foreign secretary’s office, a rarely bestowed honor for any film or screen production, especially an American one

Scenario

In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, lands in a high-profile job for which she is not suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future.. The producers convinced both the American & British governments to let them use real-life settings as filming locations for the series, including the still-recent American embassy (at Nine Elms) that opened in 2018.

The one unavailable location was Winfield House, the American ambassador’s actual residence. Although it’s accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 acres) in London aside from Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes..

She also has to deal with her husband (Rufus Sewell) who’s already a political star and their rocky marriage

The Diplomat has everything you want in a great series…it has comedy, drama, great acting and writing, etc, etc. The series is about a diplomat (Keri Russell) who has a new job as an ambassador to the United Kingdom after an international crisis happens when an aircraft carrier is attacked.

I’ll definitely be looking forward to watching that and seeing where this show goes

I liked this show so much I binged the entire eight episodes over the course of one weekend. It’s been doing so good and it’s been so well received that it’s already gotten an early renewal for another season.
