Scenario

Elias has feelings for his new neighbor Alexander. Soon he realizes that he is falling in love for the first time. Belgium was one of the first countries to repeal horrible homophobic laws and introduce more inclusiveness into its society in the 20th century. Same-sex marriages were legalized there more than 20 years ago. So why does Elias, a 13-year-old Belgian boy, have to suffer when he realizes that for the first time he is in love with the boy Alexander, his new neighbor from Brussels? We could say that there is no need to suffer, but we sympathize with him so much. Little by little, we understand his fears and apprehensions, watching this subtle but optimistic painting by Anthony Shatteman, so full of love, sincerity and light.
