A grief therapist begins telling his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives — including his own. The cast of “Shrinking” shares the best moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who has the best Harrison Ford impersonation. When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and that he was going to audition people similar to Ford.

Segel told Goldstein that they should at least bring it to Ford first, thinking he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been brought on, sparking interest from other notable actors. Ultimately, Goldstein talked to Ford and convinced him for the role. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was delighted nonetheless.
This is pure fun
Sharply written, great lines, enough pathos to keep it from becoming Big Bang Theory for the middle class, a joy to watch. Yes, real therapists wouldn’t behave like this, but anyone with a functioning brain cell would know that, so criticism from that perspective is just negativity for the sake of lowering the rating. Are any of the characters stereotypes?
A complete revelation and worth watching for him alone
Yes, but no offense given and none should be taken, FYI I worked with a gay man who was exactly the stereotype shown here. The real achievement here is mixing the seriousness of therapy and grief with the growing pains of life at different ages, stages, and lifestyles and making it all damn funny. Finally, who knew how good a light comedy actor Harrison Ford is?
