David Cronenberg’s latest cinematic offering, "The Shroud" it got me thinking about the burning question: Did Elon Musk bankroll this as a two-hour commercial for Tesla, or was it just a happy accident? 🤑In what seems like a hackneyed plot, Karsh, an innovative businessman (read: Tesla enthusiast), builds a device to connect with the dead in burial shrouds.
The film runs through themes of sadness, technology and of course the obligatory dystopian future with bad Russians/Chinese
If this sounds familiar, it’s because Cronenberg has done it all before (voyeurism, obsession with death) – only much better, with fewer devices and more content. All the while, you’re left wondering why any of this needs to exist in 2024, other than as a reminder that we take data security seriously.
